I think the reason why Tolkien keeps referring to “the bow of Legolas” and “the voice of Legolas” and “the arrows of Legolas” is that he doesn’t want to write “Legolas’s”
or he was deliberately boosting the word-count
He was writing a book series, not a college essay.
